The company was founded after the creators found no viable, affordable products that would allow for the safe operation of a generator in rain or wet weather. GenTent's patented, independently lab-tested, and storm-proven products are engineered to keep generators safe to use and protected from damage in rain and severe wet weather, reducing the risk of carbon monoxide poisoning.
GenTent's products are rated for up to 18 inches of snow load and can protect generators in up to 12 inches of rain per hour, allowing users to keep their power protected no matter where they take it. The entire GenTent unit, comprising a flame-retardant (NFPA 701) canopy and component pieces, is 100% waterproof, dual-coated marine vinyl made from rip-stop material with welded seams. GenTent is independently lab-tested and rated for up to 70 mph forecast winds, hurricane-force precipitation (12 inches per hour), and an 18-inch snow load (55 lbs.).
GenTent's patented, self-attaching system makes installation easy, with no tools required. The process involves clamping the system to the generator's existing frame, mounting the dual cast fiberglass rods to the clamp system (which adjusts to fit thousands of different portable generator sizes), and covering the frame with the waterproof, dual-coated canopy, which secures to the clamp system, creating full protection while maintaining the generator's cooling profile. Users can easily refuel their portable generator anytime with the GenTent mounted, simply lifting the weather-tight refuel door and re-securing it when finished.
GenTent offers three product kits to accommodate different generator types:

The Generator Universal Kit is designed for open-frame generators, typically from small to large sizes, with round or squared vertical frame posts.

The Generator Inverter Kit is designed for fully encased inverter generators with no posts, accommodating a wide range of sizes from 1000W to 9500W.

The Generator XL Kit is designed for larger portable generators, typically over 100" in perimeter and 10kW, with round or squared vertical frame posts, and can adapt to blocked frame posts from muffler heat shields, lower electrical panels, etc.
Each kit uses GenTent's self-attaching clamps or strap mounting system to securely attach to the generator's frame, ensuring a safe, portable, and protected setup in any wet weather conditions.
